Physical Therapies for hair loss:
Mesotherapy
Mesotherapy is a non-invasive technique based on superficial microinjections, just below the epidermis, into the target tissues. The treatment is virtually painless and safe when done professionally. There is no dressing or local anaesthesia required. ‘Mesotherapy’ in itself, means the administration of highly localized treatment by micro-injections in mesoderm, which is a middle layer of skin. In baldness treatment, an expert injects a calculated solution of vitalizing compounds directly at the root of the thinning hair regions. It is a permanent solution, in where, the revitalizing serum initiates new hair growth and lessens hair fall simultaneously.
Most forms of hair loss are caused by:
- Hormone imbalance around hair follicles.
- Lack of right nutrients.
- Decreased blood circulation.
Mesotherapy for hair loss is successful in about 90-92% of patients. When you are losing hair because of hormonal imbalance and weakened follicles, the treatment works like a miracle! The baldness treatment does not take more than 30 minutes per session depending on the area of treatment. However, your head must have follicles in the thinned patches for the treatment to work. Patients usually need 6-8 sessions weekly which need to be followed with maintenance therapies.
DERMAROLLER
The Dermaroller is a plastic roller about 3 cm wide, which is covered in metal needles of about 1-2 mm in length. It is used by rolling the needles over the skin, gently puncturing the outer layers of skin.
The Dermaroller works by causing very minor damage to the skin (puncturing the skin with the tiny needles). This encourages the tissue regeneration and blood circulation. Stimulating blood circulation is a proven way of stopping hair loss and encouraging hair growth because it increases the supply if raw materials to the hair, thus encouraging increased growth. Increased blood circulation in the scalp may also help reduce DHT levels in the scalp because the increased blood flow may help remove more DHT from the hair papilla –providing there is less DHT in the blood than there is in the papilla it travels to and from. A topical anaesthetic is used to numb the treatment area before performing the Dermaroller. Most patients describe the discomfort as moderate and acceptable with slight pain during the procedure but persistent pain were never experienced by the patient. The pain and edema,if any resolves completely in 10 minutes to half an hour. The results will be seen after the 3rd or 4th treatment with appearance of new hair from the follicles along with conversion of thin hair into thick hair.
Treatment is conducted every 3-4 weeks until a satisfactory result is obtained. The number of treatments required varies, usually 8 -10 treatments are required for maximum result.
Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy(PRP Therapy)
PRP Hair Restoration is suitable for both men and women. It is a state of the art, non surgical, totally natural, alternative medical procedure used for the treatment of hair loss or hair thinning. It is an injectable treatment which uses the patient’s own blood. PRP contains special cells called Platelets, that can theoretically cause growth of the hair follicles by stimulating the stem cells and other cells in the microenvironment of the hair follicle. These special Platelet cells promote healing, accelerates the rate and degree of tissue healing and regeneration, responds to injury, and formation of new cellular growth. The primary purpose of using PRP in hair restoration is to stimulate inactive or newly implanted hair follicles into an active growth phase.
Inside the Platelets are many intracellular structures such as glycogen, lysosomes and alpha granules. These granules within the PRP contain clotting and growth factors that are eventually released during the healing and repair process.
Patient’s blood is withdrawn which is then treated in a centrifuge so that only the enriched cells or platelets (PRP) remain.
The PRP or highly concentrated Platelet Rich Plasma, including essential growth proteins, is injected into the scalp or areas to be treated using a special micro needle.
Advantages of PRP Therapy are:
- Simple, non surgical procedure
- Safe and reliable results
- Very quick recovery period.
Beautiful and above all extremely natural looking end results.
Three to four sessions are performed at a gap of 4-6 weeks which needs to be maintained in case of AGA at a gap of 4-6 months.
